This week G5 has gone to the Singapore river and the Peranakan museum to learn about Singapore history. They have enquired into the past and learnt about the Peranakans’ life and the spice trade that went on. The students of G5.2 have written a reflection on what they learnt, saw and heard about the Peranakans. When we were at the Singapore River the students went looking for clues of the past. They went looking for buildings , signs and the boat market area. When we finished, the students had their snacks. When the students finished their snack we started walking to the Peranakan Museum which took about 15-20 mins. We arrived at the museum and handed our bags in so nothing got lost or broken. When that was over we split up into our classes to get the tour started. The first room was the starter and it told us about the people who are Peranakan. In the room there was pictures of the people who were Peranakan, it also had a map of the countries which took part the spice trade. Then we started moving upstairs to the other rooms to learn different things. The 2nd room was about the wedding rings and the bride and groom's hair ornaments and gold belts which represents how rich they are and how rich they will be. The 3rd room was about the celebration and how long it lasts. When we finished all the rooms we walked down to the first floor and got our bags. We went outside and took a G5 photo and headed on to the bus. The trip was informative and interesting.
